Waterworks association objects to EPA on chromium

In a letter to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lisa Jackson, the American Water Works Association (AWWA) expressed its opposition to the agency’s recent action on chromium-6, AWWA Streamlines reported.

AWWA claims that EPA’s action does not “follow the principles of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA).”

According to AWWA, EPA’s guidance for monitoring for chromium-6 does not provide a fully validated method or quality control standards for laboratories.
